Post-holiday hair care tips

Post-holiday hair care tips

We hope you’ve had a fab summer and looking forward to the mellow warmth of autumn.

Sadly, summer sun, sea and chlorine can play havoc with your hair, so if you’re locks are in need of some TLC here are our favourite hair care tips:

Hydrate your hair

Suffering from dry, fluffy hair? The answer is simple: dry or fluffy hair is usually a sign of lack of hydration.

Just like our bodies and skin our hair too needs moisture. Upping your water intake won’t help your hair (although it’s good for the skin), but a specially formulated deep treatment will do the trick.

Senior Coco’s Style Consultant, Jodie Cooper, recommends swapping your usual conditioner once a week for a conditioning hair treatment.

Jodie likes Paul Mitchell Hair Repair which delivers a powerful dose of moisture and rebuilds inner hair strength from the inside. Simply, replace your usual conditioner, she explains, with the Hair Repair treatment. Apply a small amount after shampooing your hair and for best results leave on for 5-7 minutes.

Need a little extra hair TLC?

If your hair still feels dry and tangled, try Paul Mitchell’s The Detangler, a super rich leave-in conditioner, suggests Jodie.

A tiny amount of The Detangler will help smooth away tangles and your comb will glide through soft, silky, shiny hair.

Professional tip. When combing tangled hair, start from the bottom and work your way up and feel those tangles glide away.

All tied up

If you tie your hair up then you’ll love our ‘invisibobble’ hair ties at just £3.75 for three. They won’t stress your hair, leave any kinks or marks and are gentle enough to sleep in.

Jodie says, when they stretch, just pop them in hot water and they revert to their original size.

The ultimate hair treat

In need of some pampering and “me-time” after the school holidays?

Book a relaxing luxury Olaplex or Awaphui Wild Ginger hair treatment and enjoy a complimentary hand and arm massage.

We promise you it’ll be the most relaxing 30 minutes and £25 you spend. Moreover, your hair will be beautifully glossy, healthy and more manageable. Ask your stylist which of the two in-salon treatments would be best for your hair.

Post-summer hair toning

Why should you consider toning your hair after the summer?

Lovely as it is, the sunshine can leave your colour dull or brassy. A toner will revitalise your colour and banish those unwanted tones from your hair and your colour will feel as good as new.

It only takes 20 minutes and costs £10.

Professional Tip. To freshen white (grey) hair and banish those unsightly yellow tones Jodie loves Paul Mitchell Platinum Shampoo. Use regularly at home, leave the second lather on for 5 minutes, and give it a helping hand with a salon toner from time to time.

Cut your (hair) losses

Summer rays, swimming pools, the salty sea, split ends or merely using a band to tie your hair up all break and damage your hair.

To get your tresses back into tip top condition book a haircut to banish those ends. You’ll notice the difference immediately says Jodie. You will love our luxury shampoo experience too! Prices range from £35 – £70 for a shampoo, cut and finish.
