Hair Colour Trends for 2020

This year we’ve seen a strong move towards more natural hair colours with seamless blends of colour and love the natural look, soft and blended shades which give you a low maintenance style.

Shadow roots are edgy and on trend and can be achieved by using your natural root colour or by going a deeper tone creating a shadow when contrasted with the rest of your hair – go into the new year with a real bang.

If you prefer the ombré look why not try ‘colour melting’. Your stylist ‘melts’ the darker and lighter colours, creating a look which is multi dimensional, yet still soft and blended.

And theres no getting away from red, with 90% of users on pinterest searching for red hair tones.

Look out for ‘Ronze’ a mix of copper, red and bronze. And remember that mulled wine isn’t just to drink – it’s a colour that will suit us all.

If you are feeling pale and you have lighter hair, try adding some strawberry blonde tones to complement and liven up your skin tone. Remember, the Pantone Colour of the Year 2019 is ‘Living Coral’ which works especially brilliantly in light and medium blonde hair colours.

If red really is your thing the brighter the better! Pantone 2020 predicts the colour ‘Flame Scarlet’ will take the lead with Pungent Saffron, Classic Blue and Biscay Green also colourful favourites. If you like being ahead of the game then give them a thought when you colour your hair.

Many stylists have noted lilac as the new ‘it girl’ colour, which probably explains why it’s so highly searched on Pinterest. If those grey hairs are creeping in, Pinterest saw a massive spike in users searching for ashy toned blonde bringing mushroom blonde bang into trend

Top tip: We are expecting to see a lot more lavender and watch out for turquoise.

Meghan Markle has shown us all that chocolatey tones are stunning and here to stay. Try caramel tones to emphasise waves and give the hair dimension, or add light brown highlights to frame the face. Warm and golden tones look stunning and really suit darker complexions. Think amber, caramel, chestnut and auburn tones and you won’t go far wrong.

If going dark isn’t for you, swap your strawberry blonde hair for copper blonde, and frame your face with lighter highlights, the bigger the section the more drama!

Try colouring honey blonde hair Amber Slate – a tone that suits all skin tones – and a beautiful mixture of warm strawberry blonde and cool ice blonde.

We are expecting buttery and vanilla blondes leading up to summer 2020.If you don’t mind a bit of maintenance then keep your platinum hair and if you are brave think Courtney Love – sass and dark roots!
